Presidents of the Untied States
19 September – 25 October 2008
Opening Receptions – Friday and Saturday 20 & 21 September 6-11 pm.
Preview – Thursday 19 September 6-9 pm.
Presidents of the United States, features the photographic work made by Karen Hoyt over the last six years. Shot predominately in Chicago, Ms. Hoyt has focused on the subject of portraiture and the urban landscape, culling many of her images from near her former residence in the South Side neighborhood of Englewood. Consisting of large format prints, the show will also include many images projected onto the gallery’s street-side façade. This collection of work is also being published in a monolith and will be released first at the exhibition’s opening reception. Karen Hoyt has also shown in Chicago at Lydon Fine Art, Zolla-Lieberman and Geischeidle, but perhaps more notable was her inclusion and review as part of Fototage, an exhibition of American photography held in Mannheim, Germany in 2005.
